Anders Shafer - Antonie Watteau (1684-1721)

Painted scenes about love and war. Best known for love scenes, often based on Italian operas or comedies. Works that are famous would be "Gilles" and "Departure For Cythera" could be arrival at the isle of love-don't know which. Toward the end his images turned ghost-like-futuristic. This work is about his life's work.
