Old slip of paper with the name John Ostrom typed out on it. That could be either the figure in the portrait or the artist. The story that came with the painting is that the painting is of a Governor or some member of New York State government. Fresh from an estate sale. Estate belonged to a longtime arts & antiques dealer in New Jersey.
