Taittinger Champagne Tasting | Thursday, November 5, 6:00pm
Join us on the mezzanine at 2 Roots Gallery for a special tasting of Champagne from Taittinger, one of the great houses of Reims. Christopher Jeske, Fine Wine Specialist, will lead you through a range of the house's Champagnes, from its classic style to its top-tier bottlings.
1. Brut La Française NV – The house signature. Crisp and elegant.
2. Millésime 2018 – Vintage Champagne from a warm, ripe year.
3. Les Folies de la Marquetterie – Estate Champagne from Taittinger's own vineyards. Not many cases make it to the US.
4. Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs 2013 – Taittinger's best and most sought-after cuvée. Hard to find and exceptional.
A few fun facts on Taittinger:
- Founded in 1734, Taittinger is one of the oldest names in Champagne.
- Family-owned. It's one of the few houses still owned and run by the family on the label, now led by Vitalie Taittinger.
- Chardonnay-focused. A high share of Chardonnay gives the house its signature elegance and finesse.
- Historic cellars. The wines age in UNESCO-listed chalk cellars beneath a 13th-century abbey in Reims.
- Major vineyard owner. Its 288 sustainably certified hectares make it one of the largest vineyard holders in Champagne.
